Libyan Rebels in Misrata Call for Foreign Ground Troops (myfoxchicago)
MISRATA, Libya -- The leadership of the besieged rebel-held city of Misrata pleaded Tuesday for the urgent intervention of foreign ground forces to protect the city's half a million citizens, the first such call by Libyan rebels since the country's uprising began two months ago. He added that Misrata's leaders had originally agreed with the rebel leadership's rejection of foreign troops on Libyan soil, but had reversed their stance as Gadhafi's assault on their city grew more violent, including daily barrages of artillery, rockets and cluster bombs into residential neighborhoods.
