Fwd: 2015 New York City Marathon

2015 New York City Marathon

The New York City Marathon has been an annual event in New York City for the past 45 years, which has grown from a Central Park race with 55 finishers to the world's biggest and most popular marathon, with 50,530 finishers in 2014.

Staging the TCS New York City Marathon necessitates closing many streets and bridges throughout NYC on Sunday, November 1, 2015. Therefore, the  NYPD would like to provide the following information concerning the marathon in order to alleviate delays in your travel throughout the five boroughs for the duration of the 2015 New York City Marathon.

Public transportation is recommended for travel, as there will be several street and bridge closures throughout the day.  Please note that on race day, the 1 train will not be operating between 14th Street and South Ferry. The 2 and 3 trains will serve local stations between 34th Street and Chambers Street; no trains will run between Chambers Street and South Ferry.  The MTA Trip Planner offers the most up to date information regarding changes in travel using public transportation, so it is recommended that you visit it, here

If you plan on visiting the New York City Marathon, whether as a spectator or a participant, several items will be prohibited upon entering the viewing areas.  Items such as weapons, unmanned aerial devices (drones), and selfie camera sticks will be prohibited.  For a complete list of prohibited items, please visit: here.

Fwd: Add your name: Arrest Deputy Ben Fields

Arrest Deputy Fields and charge him with assault! Tell Richland County to stop using police to solve simple discipline matters.
Dear MoveOn member,

Yesterday, Deputy Ben Fields of the Richland County Police Department body slammed a teenage girl in front of her classmates for refusing to leave class, while classmates looked on in horror and the teacher did nothing.1 Can you join us in calling to charge Deputy Ben Fields with assault? Click here to sign the petition, which says:

Arrest Deputy Ben Fields and charge him with assault! Stop using police to solve simple discipline matters. We demand community control over police.

We must stop the school-to-prison pipeline by ending the use of police to solve normal childhood behavioral issues, such as being defiant in class.

Criminalizing the behavior of Black students in school does not help them or the school. This is not just about a bad apple, but a bad way of thinking about an entire segment of our society.

Can you join us in standing up against police violence and demand that Deputy Ben Fields be arrested and charged with assault?

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!
