Notification issued 11/23/12 at 3:40 PM. The odd-even license plate system for gasoline purchases will be rescinded as of 6:00 AM tomorrow, Saturday, 11/24/12. The City had originally established the odd-even license plate system on Friday, 11/9/12, to reduce wait times at gas stations and then allow the regional fuel supply to recover from damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. Currently, more than 85 percent of NYC gas stations are operational, and the available supply of gasoline is expected to increase.
