New Yorkers Trapped In Prison Devoid Of Individual Freedom, Survey Says
Now more than ever New Yorkers find themselves bound by the whims of their domineering Albany overlords, according to the liberty-loving folks over at George Mason University, who just put out their 2013 Freedom in the 50 States rankings. Once again, we land dead last when it comes to state and economic freedoms. [ more › ]

March 29: NYPD, NRA and LICH
Rockaway Point: City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is trying to straddle the fence by supporting Police Commissioner Ray Kelly on one side and calling for an inspector general to oversee the Police Department on the other. As a retired police officer who served in the NYPD for more than 33 years, often representing officers in disciplinary proceedings, it has been my observation that NYPD officers are the most scrutinized and disciplined anywhere — never more so than today.

Memo Reveals NYPD Change To How Stop-And-Frisks Are Documented
As two police officers took the stand Wednesday in the Manhattan federal trial regarding the NYPD's stop-and-frisk policy, a newly released police memo dating from March 5 shows that officers now have to describe in their own words why they made a stop-and-frisk. | See the full NYPD memo.

NYPD Orders Cops Not to Be Racist on Social Media
NYPD Orders Cops Not to Be Racist on Social Media
After two FDNY EMTs, including the commissioner's son, were revealed to be horribly bigoted on their public Twitter accounts, the NYPD is sitting its own people down for a little lesson. The police department has issued its first social-media standards guide, the Daily News reports, reminding officers, "Members of the service should be aware that activities on personal social media sites may be used against them to undermine their credibility as members of the department." It's a little late.
From the gory message-board postings of the Cannibal Cop to the racist Facebook groups about the West Indian American Day parade, police officers have already had their share of embarrassments out in the not-so-new frontiers of social media. Recently, a captain used a Twitter account for his precinct to identify and warn of released convicts, but the new rules ban the creation of profiles for any specific precincts or units.
Individual cops are told "not to disclose or allude to their status as members of the department" and not to post pictures in uniform unless they're at specific events. But there are work-arounds for those who want to risk it, or just have to vent their off-color frustrations online: "Cops need to change their names on their Facebook and twitter accounts and use nicknames," said an anonymous poster on one public NYPD forum, calling the rules a violation of the officers' civil rights. "IAB will be using searches with their names," the person added. "Lol."

The plot thickens…
Witness For Pilar Sanders Testifies That T.D. Jakes Helped Deion Hide Money Prior To Divorce
Texas resident Nikke Sanni claims that she dated Gospel superstar Fred Hammond for 2 years. In an interview with CherryOnTop, she alleges that one night T.D. Jakes and Deion Sanders held a meeting at Fred’s home to discuss how the Hall of Fame baller could conceal his money to keep Pilar from taking half of his football funds in their impending divorce.
Did you have a relationship with either Deion or Pilar Sanders prior to you coming forward?
NS: No.
You allege that you were dating Fred Hammond at the time of the incident you are about to speak of, correct?
NS: Absolutely.
How long had the two of you been dating?
NS: We were dating for approximately a year before this meeting, and we dated for another year after it happened, so it was a total of two years.
Hit the flipper to read the details of what Nikke heard during Deion’s clandestine conversation.
