What's Happening This Week

January 31st, 2015

Our show this week will focus on Latino Affairs, both nationally and internationally. Our Latino Affairs Producer, Steven "Humble" Mangual will be discussing the ongoing campaign to free the longest held Puerto Rican Political Prisoner, Oscar Lopez Rivera, who has been in prison for over 33 years. Also, we will be examining the recent changes in US-Cuba relations and the potential implications of a fully restored political and economical relationship. Our guests will be Professor Ana Lopez, NY Coordinator of the Free Oscar Campaign and Mr. Ariel Hernandez, First Secretary of the Cuban Mission to the United Nations. We hope that you will join us and share your thoughts and feedback with us via traditional and social media.

On The Count! is a weekly, public affairs, news and talk program produced in New York by formerly incarcerated academic professionals. It serves to communicate the vision of cost effective public health and safety goals for achieving human justice. It presents an alternative narrative, rarely heard in traditional mainstream media, for challenging and changing status-quo policies, practices and programs.  It provides a global platform that expands the reach of voices historically excluded from public discussion and decision making, yet are the most directly affected by the process.
