At The Studio Museum in Harlem, a new season means new discoveries.
Every Sunday, Sasha and her father come to our free workshops to learn something new about artâand each other. Today, Sasha is getting creative with cut-outs, scissors and glue. She's making a self-portrait that reflects her own story, taking inspiration from featured artist Dave McKenzie, a 2003-04 alumnus of the Museum's Artist-in-Residence program. "It's so amazing to see her evolution," Sasha's father says,"It's great to have a venue that's local and offers quality programs for free."
The Studio Museum brings art alive. From little artists like Sasha, to leading artists like Dave McKenzie, we offer a place where everyone can join in the conversation about creativity. Here, exhibitions like our current When the Stars Begin to Fall: Imagination and the American South do more than bring unique, world-class artwork into our galleriesâ they inspire hundreds of performances, talks with artists, tours and workshops every year. And they inspire the people that come through our doors, across generations.
Help spark more discoveries in 2014 with a gift that will allow us to bring artists of every age together.Your support will mean new experiences for schools and families, locals and visitors, lifetime Studio Museum members and passerby, and art lovers from all walks of life.
