Summer’s started early at the City Museum. Documenting the “sun-baked melting pot†of Coney Island in the 1960s, our latest exhibition features the photographs of Aaron Rose. In a World of their Own captures beach-goers of all ages, ethnicities, and walks of life, and offers an intimate glimpse of New Yorkers at their most unguarded. Rose's 70 photos are on display for the first time, and a selection appeared alongside a rare interview with the photographer in The New York Times. Come see the show that photography critic Vince Aletti has called “thrilling and touchingly sweet.†Aaron Rose’s Coney Island is “a place where privacy is a state of mind.†We invite you to soak it in. Join the conversation. #AaronRose #ConeyIsland |
