Nicki Minaj Hits The Red Carpet With Chicken Wing Necklace

Nicki Minaj Hits The Red Carpet With Chicken Wing Necklace First there was Lady Gaga's meat dress, and now Nicki Minaj has donned a fried chicken necklace at the IHeartRadio Festival over the weekend. The hot pink piece is probably not real? But it has people worked up, including one writer who says, "As an African American woman I am aware of certain black stereotypes such as 'black people love chicken'... While I’m positive eating the certain poultry couldn’t be that evil, is wearing a piece of chicken around your neck satire or ignorance?" [ more › ]

Anonymous Outs NYPD Officer Who Pepper-Sprayed Occupy Wall Street Protesters

The loosely organized hacker collective Anonymous has identified NYPD Deputy Inspector Anthony Bologna as the man seen pepper-spraying two women unprovoked at the Occupy Wall Street protest over the weekend, but they're not just leaving it at that. The Internet vigilantes, using photographic evidence of Bologna on the scene and a close-up of his badge, wasted no time in putting together a file on the officer, including a possible phone number, addresses, and the names of his family members, warning ominously, "Before you commit atrocities against innocent people, think twice. WE ARE WATCHING!!! Expect Us!"

Occupy Wall Street spokesman Patrick Bruner told us today that he was made aware of Bologna's identity last night, but opted not to release it. "We hadn't yet come to a consensus on how to approach the situation, which we saw as potentially volatile," Bruner said. "To bring his family and his home into it is something I find personally unacceptable." But make no mistake: Bologna's actions were "demonic," Bruner stressed, and now that the officer's name is known, Occupy Wall Street is demanding the city take action.

Bruner said the protesters were considering organizing a citizen's arrest of Officer Bologna, but maintained that the group remains committed to nonviolence, even in the face of this "graphic" abuse of power. To counter the NYPD claim that the video was misleadingly edited, Occupy Wall Street has posted three different versions of the events, along with the following message:

We demand that he is charged for his crimes. We demand that he receives jail time.

We demand that Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly resigns. Not only can he not control his most senior officers, he is involved in actively sheltering them from receiving any punishment.

We demand that Mayor Michael Bloomberg address our General Assembly and apologize for the police brutality and the cover-up that followed.

One protester who was hit by some of the spray writes today that, as she struggled to rinse her eyes, she heard another NYPD officer, a "blue-shirt," remark in disbelief, "I can't believe he just fuckin' maced her." Chelsea Elliott, a 25-year-old protester hit directly by the spray, tells her side here. (A 2001 report dug up by the intelligence blog Cyptome called Lieutenant Bologna "notorious for his previous treatment of protestors.")

In May of last year, Bologna was moved as the commanding officer of lower Manhattan's first precinct and reassigned to the Patrol Borough Manhattan South. "You do what they give you and you do your best," Bologna said at the time. "I'm looking forward to new challenges."

Here's the clip again, with alternate versions on view here:

EXCLUSIVE

That’s foul.

The nonprofit in charge of doling out nearly $1 million a year in New York Yankee cash to Bronx charities is throwing it away on shady organizations, for-profit businesses and barely effective but politically connected community groups, a Post investigation found.

The questionable groups supported by the New Yankee Stadium Community Benefits Fund included:

* ALFRBA, which bills itself as a free manners and etiquette course but hawks such hip-hop sportswear as do-rags, bucket hats, sweat suits and T-shirts online. It received $3,000 in 2008 and 2009.

MAKING IT RAIN: Question-able beneficiaries of a community fund created in the deal for the new Yankee Stadium include the formerly for-profit El Maestro gym (pictured) and the apparel seller ALFRBA, run by Barbara Gibson.

* El Maestro, which was a for-profit boxing gym in 2009 when it applied for and received $5,100 for equipment from the fund, which is supposed to support only nonprofits. In 2010 the gym secured nonprofit status, but it still charges members a $100 initiation and $30 to $50 in monthly fees.

* Flo-Bert Ltd., a tap-dance troupe that performs an annual recital in Manhattan. The group got $2,000 in 2009 even though it hadn’t filed paperwork with the IRS since 2007. The feds canceled the purported nonprofit’s tax-exempt status last month.

* Praise, Peace and Pride, which didn’t bother to explain its mission on a 2007 tax form. The charity later explained it in a 2009 filing, but the form showed it didn’t spend a dime on its “youth services.” It filed no tax forms in 2008. Yet it received $5,100 in Yankee money in 2009. It scored another $20,000 in 2010 and 2011, an organizer said. In March, the group announced an effort to “provide medical-health and dental-care assistance for all hip-hop pioneers and their families.”

In his heyday, he lived at 783 Bel Air Road, a four-bedroom, 5,432-square-foot Beverly Hills mansion that once belonged to John Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas.

The Tudor-style house was tricked out in his signature funky black, white and red color scheme. Shag carpet. Tiffany lamps in every room. A round water bed in the master bedroom. There were parties where Stevie Wonder, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Miles Davis would drop by, whereEtta James would break into “At Last” by the bar.

Just four years ago, he resided in a Napa Valley house so large it could only be described as a “compound,” with a vineyard out back and multiple cars in the driveway.

Fw: [CSH - News | 98] VIDEO: Immigrants Takeover Mark-Viverito's Office | Movement for Justice in El Barrio

FYI!

  1. How many Residents of Central and West Harlem would have the "strength of heart" to "bring it" to our Political Representatives like the "Movement for Justice in El Barrio" brought it to NYC Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito?
  2. If we did an action like this?  Would the Political Representatives of Central and West Harlem have had the participants arrested?
What do you think? Look at the Video.

Greetings:

We would like to share with you a new video on our recent action
against Council Member Melissa Mark-Viverito.

In this short video, immigrant women and other low-income residents
from El Barrio storm and occupy the offices of Council Member Melissa
Mark-Viverito to protest her ongoing promotion of  displacement and
negligent landlords in our community. In the face of police presence
and hostility from office personnel, these luchadoras fearlessly speak
truth to power and denounce Mark-Viverito for her profoundly anti-
democratic attacks against her East Harlem constituents, our homes and
community.

Please circulate widely.

Video: Brooklyn Rapper Waxes Poetic About Welfare Abuse

Video: Brooklyn Rapper Waxes Poetic About Welfare Abuse Conservatives have been up in arms all week over a rapper who seemingly glorifies the decadent lifestyle of food stamps and welfare. Stanley Lafleur, aka rapper Mr EBT (H-Man), watched as the video for his single "My EBT," which joyously depicts him using his government-issued Electronic Benefit Transfer card to pay for junk food, went viral this week after Drudge Report and other conservative bloggers held it up as The Reason This Country Is Going To Hell (not the champagne toasts). But Lafleur tells the News that conservatives just don't get his message: "I couldn't believe people are hating on me like I'm rubbing the benefit card in the face of taxpayers. They don't get it. My video is a parody." [ more › ]

CityTime's Sequel: How Bloomberg Wasted Another $297 Million

CityTime's Sequel: How Bloomberg Wasted Another $297 Million Remember CityTime? It's Mayor Bloomberg's $740 million boondoggle to modernize the city's payroll administration that—oh look, Willow the cat! Anyway, it turns out that Bloomberg is really good at wasting hundreds of millions of dollars on implementing technological advances that years later appear to be abject failures. The Times reports that $363 million has been spent on Nycaps, a plan to "modernize" the personnel information on the city's employees that originally was budgeted for $66 million in 2002. That's right, $297 million spent over nine years for a website made in 1996. [ more › ]

Now It's Okay For Rangel To Laugh About Ethics Problems

Now It's Okay For Rangel To Laugh About Ethics Problems It was less than a year ago that the House of Representatives voted to censure longtime Harlem Congressman Charles Rangel for a series of ethic violations, which Rangel called "embarrassing" and "painful." Yesterday, Rangel chortled, "Anyone who wants to ask about the Ethics Committee, I'm not answering any questions," when his portrait was unveiled at the Capitol yesterday (the Daily News said that line was greeted with "applause and laughter").
