Uptown Festival of New Plays

Morris-Jumel Mansion is pleased to once again partner with the People’s Theatre Project on an exciting four-day festival of new plays. Admission to the festival is pay-what-you-can and each performance will be followed by a discussion with the playwright, director and actors.

June 20th @ 7pm - MALVADO by Jason Ramirez
A Nuyorican family drama chronicling the generational conflicts present in Latino families in the Bronx of the 1970s.
June 21st @ 7pm – DIRTY BLOOD by Stacy Osei-Kuffour
A racially tense triangle is created, when two Louisiana detectives, one white one black, interrogate a black teacher on the disappearance of one of her students. We find out that nobody is clean.
June 22nd @ 7pm – THE MOSQUITO NET by Kimberly del Busto
A multimedia testimony play examining human rights controversies in contemporary Cuba
June 23rd @ 3pm – SOUTH BRONX v. HOLLYWOOD by Carlos J. Serrano
A South Bronx community discovers there is a thin line between truth and stereotype as a Hollywood company arrives to film Fort Apache: The Bronx.
